   Bio Medical Engineers from Harvard have developed a nano-particle based polymer that can detect blood flow reduction, break apart and stick to a clot. It then releases a drug called tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) that dissolves the clot. The treatments have worked on mice so far but has not progressed to human trials.

   As DNA replicates, damages may occur. In certain circumstances, DNA will actually duplicate parts of existing genes. The result of this is that the new, duplicated gene can be manipulated with minimal repercussions on the host (as the original gene still exists.)

Scientists have found, by activating similar genes in mice, that a past duplication and then manipulation in human DNA might have contributed to the current complexity of our brains.

   The patients that received the placebo were statistically no better off than the patients who received the treatment of their own stem-cells derived from bone marrow tissue. However; it was noted that this did improve the overall quantity of blood flow, pumped out of ventricles, in patients age 62 or younger.
